Description
chunky raised loops that give the surface a soft, three-dimensional nubby
texture. Every piece is woven by hand on a traditional loom in Bhadohi, India,
using heathered natural-tone wool yarn. If you want a neutral rug that still
has presence in a room, this is texture doing the work that colour usually does.
WHY HAND-WOVEN
The loops are built into the weave itself rather than punched into a backing.
That means no latex layer, no glue smell, and a rug that stays flexible and
breathable. Hand-woven loop rugs sit in a sweet spot: the durability and
natural resilience of a woven structure, with far more surface interest than a
flat kilim. The chunky yarn also makes it forgiving — footprints and vacuum
lines disappear into the texture.
MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
100% wool, spun into a thick chunky yarn and left in its natural undyed shades,
which is why you'll see cream, oatmeal and faint grey-brown flecks living side
by side. Each row of bobbles is formed by hand as the rug is woven, so a
standard 5x8 takes an experienced weaver several days on the loom. The edges
are finished as a woven selvedge — no applied binding tape, no fringe. Our
family has been weaving in Bhadohi for three generations.

STYLING & PLACEMENT
Built for Scandinavian, Japandi, organic modern, coastal and warm minimalist
rooms. In a living room, go large enough that at least the front legs of the
sofa and both accent chairs sit on the rug — a 5x8 suits a compact seating
group, an 8x10 anchors a full sofa-and-chairs arrangement. In a bedroom, an
8x10 under a queen bed leaves walking margin on three sides; a 9x12 does the
same for a king. Works beautifully over concrete, oak and wide-plank floors,
and the texture reads especially well in low, raking daylight.
GIFTING
A neutral, texture-led rug is one of the few home pieces you can gift without
knowing someone's colour scheme — it suits housewarmings, weddings and first
apartments.
CARE, VARIATION & LONGEVITY
Vacuum with suction only; never run a rotating beater bar over the loops, as it
can pull the yarn. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth, spot clean with
mild wool detergent and cool water, and use a professional wool cleaner for a
deep clean. Expect light shedding for the first few weeks — that is normal for
chunky natural wool and settles with regular vacuuming. Because the yarn is
natural and undyed, shade variation between batches is part of the material,
and finished sizes can vary by roughly 2%. With a rug pad underneath and
occasional rotation, a wool rug like this comfortably lasts 15–20 years.
FAQ
Will it shed? Lightly, for the first few weeks. Chunky natural wool releases
loose fibres early on; gentle vacuuming reduces it quickly.
Is it pet-safe? Yes — natural wool, no latex adhesive. Cats with a habit of
kneading may pull at raised loops, so it suits calmer pets better.
Does it come with a pad? No, a pad is sold separately. We recommend one on hard
floors for grip and to protect the weave.
How long is made-to-order? Typically 2–3 weeks to weave, plus shipping time.
Can I get a custom size? Yes — any dimension, message us with your measurements
and we'll quote it.
Will the colours match my screen? Very closely, but natural undyed wool shifts
slightly under warm vs cool lighting. Message us for extra photos.
Is it good for high-traffic areas? Yes for living rooms and bedrooms. We'd avoid
it directly under a dining table where chair legs drag across the loops.
Message us for a custom size, and we'll weave it to your exact dimensions.
Rug Care & Maintenance
Vacuum gently once or twice a week using a brush attachment — avoid rotary brush heads. Do not machine wash. For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth; never rub. With simple care, your handmade wool rug will stay beautiful for decades.

Questions, Answered
Everything you want to know before you buy
Handmade rugs raise real questions — about wool, shedding, sizing and shipping. Here are ours, answered plainly.
Can I order a custom size or colour?
Yes. Almost everything we make can be woven to your dimensions and palette, including round, runner and oversized pieces. Custom orders take about 4-6 weeks. Send us your measurements and a colour reference to start.
Are your rugs safe for pets and children?
Yes. Our rugs are crafted using natural wool and non-toxic dyes without chemical-backed coatings. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-resistant, making it a great choice for family homes. If a loop is accidentally pulled by a pet, simply trim it carefully with scissors rather than pulling it.
Do I need a rug pad underneath it?
We highly recommend using one. A quality rug pad helps prevent slipping, protects your flooring, adds extra comfort underfoot, and extends the lifespan of your rug by reducing wear from daily foot traffic. It's especially beneficial on hardwood, tile, and other smooth surfaces.
How should I clean and care for my rug?
Vacuum weekly on a low setting. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — press, don't rub. For anything that has set, use a professional rug cleaner. Avoid soaking the rug, bleach, and steam cleaning.
Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?
Yes, light shedding is normal during the first few weeks. These are loose fibers left from the finishing process and will gradually reduce with regular use. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting (without a rotating beater bar), and shedding typically settles within about a month. It is a natural characteristic of quality wool rugs.
No question matches that. Message us and we'll answer it directly.
