Description

Light, airy and quietly elegant. This ivory trellis rug sets peach blossoms inside a flowing slate blue vine lattice on a soft ivory field, framed by a slate blue border of trailing peach and ivory florals and a fine peach guard stripe. Every knot is tied by hand onto a cotton foundation and finished with a hand-tied fringe. The pale field keeps rooms bright, while the blue border gives the design structure.

Why hand knotted

Hand knotting is the oldest and most durable way to make a rug. Each wool knot is tied by hand around a cotton warp, row by row, then beaten down and clipped. There is no latex, no scrim and no backing cloth: the knots are the structure, so the pattern shows on the reverse and the fringe is the warp itself. That means no glue to dry out, no delamination, and a rug that can be washed, repaired and re-fringed for decades.

Materials and craftsmanship

The pile is hand-spun wool, dyed in small batches, which gives gentle tonal variation (abrash) across the ivory field. The foundation is cotton warp and weft. Each rug is woven in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India, then hand clipped, washed, stretched and finished.

Styling and placement

Perfect for calm bedrooms and light living rooms with linen bedding, pale oak floors, plaster walls and a terracotta or peach accent chair. It suits transitional, modern farmhouse, coastal and soft minimalist interiors.

A queen bed wants 8 x 10 ft; a king bed wants 9 x 12 ft. For a three-seat sofa layout, 8 x 10 ft lets the front legs of all seating sit on the rug.

Care and longevity

Vacuum with suction only, beater bar off, and avoid the fringe. Blot spills immediately; wool's natural lanolin helps the ivory field resist soiling. Professional washing every three to five years and rotating twice a year keep it looking fresh. Allow slight colour variation between batches and a size tolerance of up to 2%.

Frequently asked questions

How long does it take to make?

10 to 15 days from order, as each rug is knotted to order. Shipping is added on top.

Is an ivory rug hard to keep clean?

Less than you'd expect. Wool resists soiling, and spills blot out easily if you act quickly. A rug pad and regular rotation help.

Can I order a custom size or colour?

Yes. Message us with your room dimensions or colour ideas and we will send a quote and colour layout.

Rug Care & Maintenance

Vacuum gently once or twice a week using a brush attachment — avoid rotary brush heads. Do not machine wash. For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth; never rub. With simple care, your handmade wool rug will stay beautiful for decades.

Questions, Answered

Everything you want to know before you buy

Handmade rugs raise real questions — about wool, shedding, sizing and shipping. Here are ours, answered plainly.

Are your rugs safe for pets and children?

Yes. Our rugs are crafted using natural wool and non-toxic dyes without chemical-backed coatings. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-resistant, making it a great choice for family homes. If a loop is accidentally pulled by a pet, simply trim it carefully with scissors rather than pulling it.

Do I need a rug pad underneath it?

We highly recommend using one. A quality rug pad helps prevent slipping, protects your flooring, adds extra comfort underfoot, and extends the lifespan of your rug by reducing wear from daily foot traffic. It's especially beneficial on hardwood, tile, and other smooth surfaces.

Can I order a custom size or colour?

Yes. Almost everything we make can be woven to your dimensions and palette, including round, runner and oversized pieces. Custom orders take about 4-6 weeks. Send us your measurements and a colour reference to start.

How should I clean and care for my rug?

Vacuum weekly on a low setting. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — press, don't rub. For anything that has set, use a professional rug cleaner. Avoid soaking the rug, bleach, and steam cleaning.

Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?

Yes, light shedding is normal during the first few weeks. These are loose fibers left from the finishing process and will gradually reduce with regular use. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting (without a rotating beater bar), and shedding typically settles within about a month. It is a natural characteristic of quality wool rugs.

No question matches that. Message us and we'll answer it directly.

Frequently Asked Questions

What materials and construction does the Ivory Trellis Rug have?

What colours and pattern are featured in this ivory trellis rug?
The design pairs peach blossoms and a flowing slate blue vine lattice on an ivory field, with a slate blue border of peach and ivory florals and a fine peach guard stripe. Small-batch dyeing gives the wool gentle tonal variation, so colours may vary slightly between batches.
How should I choose a size for a bedroom or living room?
For a queen bed, the product description recommends 8 x 10 ft; for a king bed, 9 x 12 ft. In a three-seat sofa layout, an 8 x 10 ft rug lets the front legs of all seating sit on it. The listed size tolerance is up to 2%.
How do I care for the Ivory Trellis Rug?
