Description
Sage green hand woven wool area rug with an all-over pebble texture — rows
of soft raised bobbles woven from chunky wool yarn. It is a solid, tonal rug
that brings depth to a room through texture instead of pattern, which is why
it works in interiors where a printed or medallion rug would fight the
furniture.

WHY HAND WOVEN
This rug is woven by hand on a loom, not tufted or machine produced. Hand
weaving is what makes the raised pebble surface possible: each nub is formed
in the weave itself rather than glued into a backing. The result is a rug
with real body and weight, a firm and stable surface underfoot, and edges
finished in the weave rather than bound on afterwards. Small variations in
nub size and row spacing are part of hand weaving and are the clearest sign
the piece was made by a person.

MATERIALS & CRAFTSMANSHIP
Woven from thick spun wool yarn with a matte, felted finish that resists
crushing and hides everyday footfall. Wool is naturally resilient, flame
retardant and temperature regulating, and it holds dye in a soft muted way —
which is why the sage reads calm and slightly greyed rather than bright.
Colours are dyed to shade, and each rug takes several days on the loom
depending on size. Our rugs are woven in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, the centre
of India's handmade rug industry, by weavers from a three-generation family
workshop.

STYLING & PLACEMENT
Built for living rooms, bedrooms, reading corners and home offices. Suits
Scandinavian, Japandi, modern organic, minimalist and warm neutral interiors,
and looks especially good on light oak, pale ash and wide-plank wood floors.
In a living room, choose a size that lets the front legs of the sofa and
chairs sit on the rug — 5 x 8 ft for a compact seating group, 8 x 10 ft for a
full sofa-and-armchairs layout. For a queen bed, 6 x 9 ft placed under the
lower two thirds leaves a comfortable step-out margin on both sides; a king
bed wants 8 x 10 ft or larger. Under a 6-seat dining table, go 8 x 10 ft so
chairs stay on the rug when pulled out.

GIFTING
A neutral textured rug is one of the safer housewarming or wedding gifts —
it works with an interior you have not seen, because it adds texture without
imposing a pattern or a strong colour story.

CARE, VARIATION & LONGEVITY
Vacuum with the beater bar off or on a suction-only setting; a rotating brush
can catch the raised nubs. Blot spills immediately with a clean cloth, work
from the outside in, and avoid soaking. Professional cleaning once every 12
to 18 months keeps the wool looking full. Expect light shedding for the first
few weeks — this is normal for new wool and settles with regular vacuuming.
Because the rug is hand woven, allow up to 2 percent variation in finished
size and a slight variation in shade between rugs and between the rug and
your screen. Rotate 180 degrees twice a year to even out wear and sun
exposure. Use a rug pad: it stops slipping, protects the wood floor beneath,
and adds years to the rug's life. Cared for this way, a wool rug of this
construction lasts well over a decade.

FAQ
Will it shed?
Lightly, for the first few weeks. Wool releases loose fibres from the
spinning process; vacuuming twice a week clears it and shedding then stops.

Is it pet friendly?
Yes, and wool is a good choice with pets. Note that claws can catch on raised
nubs, so it is better suited to cats and small to medium dogs than to a very
large or heavy-clawed dog.

Does it come with a rug pad?
No, the pad is sold separately. We recommend a felt-and-rubber pad cut two
inches smaller than the rug on each side.

How long does a made-to-order rug take?
Weaving takes about 2 to 4 weeks depending on size, plus shipping time. We
confirm the exact timeline before you order.

Can I get a custom size or a different colour?
Yes. We weave custom dimensions, runners and rounds, and can match this
texture in other tones. Send us your size and we will quote it.

Will the colour match the photos?
Very closely, though screens vary and this is a naturally dyed muted sage.
Ask us for a photo under daylight before ordering if the exact shade matters.

Message us for a custom size, a runner length or a colour match — we weave to
order and are happy to work from your floor plan.
Rug Care & Maintenance

Vacuum gently once or twice a week using a brush attachment — avoid rotary brush heads. Do not machine wash. For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth; never rub. With simple care, your handmade wool rug will stay beautiful for decades.

Questions, Answered

Everything you want to know before you buy

Handmade rugs raise real questions — about wool, shedding, sizing and shipping. Here are ours, answered plainly.

Can I order a custom size or colour?
Are your rugs safe for pets and children?
Do I need a rug pad underneath it?
How should I clean and care for my rug?
Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?
Can I order a custom size or colour?

Yes. Almost everything we make can be woven to your dimensions and palette, including round, runner and oversized pieces. Custom orders take about 4-6 weeks. Send us your measurements and a colour reference to start.

Are your rugs safe for pets and children?

Yes. Our rugs are crafted using natural wool and non-toxic dyes without chemical-backed coatings. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-resistant, making it a great choice for family homes. If a loop is accidentally pulled by a pet, simply trim it carefully with scissors rather than pulling it.

Do I need a rug pad underneath it?

We highly recommend using one. A quality rug pad helps prevent slipping, protects your flooring, adds extra comfort underfoot, and extends the lifespan of your rug by reducing wear from daily foot traffic. It's especially beneficial on hardwood, tile, and other smooth surfaces.

How should I clean and care for my rug?

Vacuum weekly on a low setting. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — press, don't rub. For anything that has set, use a professional rug cleaner. Avoid soaking the rug, bleach, and steam cleaning.

Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?

Yes, light shedding is normal during the first few weeks. These are loose fibers left from the finishing process and will gradually reduce with regular use. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting (without a rotating beater bar), and shedding typically settles within about a month. It is a natural characteristic of quality wool rugs.

No question matches that. Message us and we'll answer it directly.

Foire aux questions

What makes this Sage Green Pebble Texture Wool Area Rug unique compared to machine-made rugs?
This rug is hand woven on a loom, which creates a textured pebble surface with real body and weight. The raised bobbles are woven into the rug, not glued, resulting in a durable, stable surface with edges finished in the weave.
How does the design of this wool area rug complement different interior styles?
Its all-over pebble texture and tonal sage color add depth without pattern, making it versatile for minimalist, Scandinavian, Japandi, and modern organic interiors. It pairs especially well with light oak, pale ash, and wide-plank wood floors.
What are the recommended placement and size options for this rug in a living room or bedroom?
Choose a size that allows sofa and chairs to sit partly on the rug, like 5x8 ft for a small seating area or 8x10 ft for a full sofa layout. Under a bed, 6x9 ft works well, leaving space on the sides, while a king bed benefits from 8x10 ft or larger.
How should I care for and maintain the wool rug to ensure its longevity?
Vacuum regularly with the beater bar off or on suction mode, blot spills immediately, and avoid soaking. Professional cleaning every 12 to 18 months keeps it looking fresh, and rotating it twice a year distributes wear evenly.
Can I customize this Sage Green Pebble Texture Wool Area Rug in size or color?
Yes, we offer custom sizes, runners, and round options, and can match this texture in other tones. Contact us with your measurements or color preference for a personalized quote and order process.
