Description
Natural, light and easy to live with. This jute and wool striped rug combines braided bands of golden-tan jute with chunky stripes of soft ivory wool. The jute brings rustic texture and strength, the wool adds softness underfoot, and together they create a relaxed coastal stripe that works in almost any room.
Materials and craftsmanship
The tan stripes are braided natural jute, a strong plant fibre with a warm golden colour; the ivory stripes are chunky hand-spun wool braids for softness. Each rug is hand woven on a loom in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India: thick hand-made yarns are woven row by row into a cotton warp, then the edges are hand bound. There is no glue and no latex, so the rug is breathable and built to last.

Styling and placement
Lay it under a round oak coffee table with a white slipcovered sofa, rattan chair, linen cushions and a fiddle leaf fig. It suits coastal, modern farmhouse, boho and Scandinavian living rooms, dining rooms and entryways.
Choosing your size
As a guide, 5x7 ft suits a reading corner or bedside, 6x9 ft sits in front of a sofa, and 8x10 ft or larger lets the front legs of all seating rest on the rug. Under a dining table, allow at least 60 cm (24 in) beyond the table on every side. Need a size not listed? We weave custom sizes to order.
Care and longevity
Vacuum with suction only and shake out smaller sizes. Blot spills immediately and keep jute dry – avoid steam cleaning or soaking, as water can mark natural jute. Professional dry cleaning is recommended for deep cleans. Use a rug pad on hard floors and rotate the rug every few months so wear and sunlight stay even. Chunky woven wool may shed a little loose fibre at first; this settles with regular vacuuming. Allow slight colour variation between batches and a size tolerance of up to 2%.
Frequently asked questions
Is jute rough underfoot?
Jute has a firmer, natural texture, which is why we pair it with soft wool stripes. The result is durable and textured but comfortable for living rooms and bedrooms.
How long does it take to make?
10 to 15 days from order, as each rug is woven to order. Shipping is added on top.
Can I order a custom size or colour?
Yes. Message us with your room dimensions or colour ideas and we will send a quote.
Rug Care & Maintenance
Vacuum gently once or twice a week using a brush attachment — avoid rotary brush heads. Do not machine wash. For spills, blot immediately with a dry cloth; never rub. With simple care, your handmade wool rug will stay beautiful for decades.

Questions, Answered
Everything you want to know before you buy
Handmade rugs raise real questions — about wool, shedding, sizing and shipping. Here are ours, answered plainly.
Are your rugs safe for pets and children?
Yes. Our rugs are crafted using natural wool and non-toxic dyes without chemical-backed coatings. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-resistant, making it a great choice for family homes. If a loop is accidentally pulled by a pet, simply trim it carefully with scissors rather than pulling it.
Do I need a rug pad underneath it?
We highly recommend using one. A quality rug pad helps prevent slipping, protects your flooring, adds extra comfort underfoot, and extends the lifespan of your rug by reducing wear from daily foot traffic. It's especially beneficial on hardwood, tile, and other smooth surfaces.
Can I order a custom size or colour?
Yes. Almost everything we make can be woven to your dimensions and palette, including round, runner and oversized pieces. Custom orders take about 4-6 weeks. Send us your measurements and a colour reference to start.
How should I clean and care for my rug?
Vacuum weekly on a low setting. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — press, don't rub. For anything that has set, use a professional rug cleaner. Avoid soaking the rug, bleach, and steam cleaning.
Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?
Yes, light shedding is normal during the first few weeks. These are loose fibers left from the finishing process and will gradually reduce with regular use. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting (without a rotating beater bar), and shedding typically settles within about a month. It is a natural characteristic of quality wool rugs.
No question matches that. Message us and we'll answer it directly.
