Description
Playful, refined and full of charm. This ivory oval rug keeps a calm, plain ivory centre and saves all its personality for the border: a mustard wavy ribbon, a chain of raised burgundy diamonds, fine charcoal lines and an outer band of alternating blush squares and sage bowtie shapes. Hand tufted in wool with each motif carved slightly proud of the ivory ground, it brings a soft, collected look to bedrooms and living rooms.
Materials and craftsmanship
Each rug is hand tufted in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Wool yarn is punched by hand through a cotton cloth stretched on a frame, then sheared to a dense, even pile. Every outline and contour line is then hand carved, lifting each shape slightly above its neighbour so the design reads like a sculpture underfoot. The shaped edge is cut and bound by hand, and the rug is backed with cotton canvas.

Choosing your size
Shaped rugs are measured at their longest and widest points. As a guide, 5x7 ft suits a reading corner or bedside, 6x9 ft sits in front of a sofa, and 8x10 ft or larger lets the front legs of all seating rest on the rug. Need a size or colour not listed? We tuft custom pieces to order.
Care and longevity
Vacuum regularly with suction only, beater bar off. Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth and spot clean with a mild wool-safe detergent. Use a rug pad on hard floors and rotate the rug every few months so wear and sunlight stay even. New wool sheds a little loose fibre for the first few weeks; this settles with regular vacuuming. Allow slight colour variation between batches and a size tolerance of up to 2%.

Yes. The diamonds, wave, squares and bowtie shapes are carved so they sit slightly above the ivory ground, giving the border a gentle three-dimensional texture you can feel underfoot.
How long does it take to make?

Are your rugs safe for pets and children?
Yes. Our rugs are crafted using natural wool and non-toxic dyes without chemical-backed coatings. Wool is naturally stain-resistant and flame-resistant, making it a great choice for family homes. If a loop is accidentally pulled by a pet, simply trim it carefully with scissors rather than pulling it.
Do I need a rug pad underneath it?
We highly recommend using one. A quality rug pad helps prevent slipping, protects your flooring, adds extra comfort underfoot, and extends the lifespan of your rug by reducing wear from daily foot traffic. It's especially beneficial on hardwood, tile, and other smooth surfaces.
Can I order a custom size or colour?
Yes. Almost everything we make can be woven to your dimensions and palette, including round, runner and oversized pieces. Custom orders take about 4-6 weeks. Send us your measurements and a colour reference to start.
How should I clean and care for my rug?
Vacuum weekly on a low setting. Blot spills immediately with a dry cloth — press, don't rub. For anything that has set, use a professional rug cleaner. Avoid soaking the rug, bleach, and steam cleaning.
Do wool rugs shed, and for how long?
Yes, light shedding is normal during the first few weeks. These are loose fibers left from the finishing process and will gradually reduce with regular use. Vacuum gently using a suction-only setting (without a rotating beater bar), and shedding typically settles within about a month. It is a natural characteristic of quality wool rugs.
