Holiday Gift Guide 2026: Handmade Rugs for Everyone on Your List
Partager
Most gifts are used for a season and forgotten. A handmade rug is different. It's something people walk across every morning, that makes a room feel finished, and that can last for decades. If you're looking for a gift that feels personal, practical and genuinely special this year, a rug made by hand in Bhadohi, India's carpet capital, is hard to beat.
Here's our 2026 holiday gift guide, organised by the kind of person you're shopping for, plus the order-by dates you'll need to get it there in time.
Holiday order-by dates for Christmas delivery
Standard rugs: order by 20 November
Custom size, colour or design: order by 10 November
Every rug is made to order (10–15 business days), then shipped by express courier (5–7 business days). Shipping is free worldwide, and customs duties are covered.
1. For the Person Who Loves Heirlooms: A Hand-Knotted Oushak Rug
For parents, grandparents, or anyone who values things that last, a hand-knotted wool rug is the ultimate gift. Every knot is tied by hand, which is why these rugs can be passed down through generations. Our Oushak-style designs have soft floral patterns and gentle colours that suit both traditional and modern homes.

2. For the New Homeowner: A Runner Rug
A new home always has a bare hallway, kitchen or entryway that needs warmth. Runners are one of the safest rugs to gift because they fit almost any home, and you don't need to know the exact size of anyone's living room. A hand-knotted runner is the first thing guests see when they walk in.
See our tips on where and how to use runner rugs.
3. For the Cosy Minimalist: A Chunky Wool Rug
For the friend whose home is all calm neutrals, linen and candlelight, a chunky handwoven wool rug adds softness and texture without adding clutter. These thick, pebble-textured rugs feel wonderful underfoot on cold winter mornings and suit Scandinavian and Japandi interiors perfectly.

4. For the Nature Lover: A Moss Rug
For the plant parent who already has every pot and planter, give them greenery they never need to water. Our moss and pebble rugs are hand-tufted and hand-carved in wool to look and feel like a forest floor. They make a striking gift and are guaranteed to start conversations.
5. For the Retro Fan: A Mid-Century Rug
For anyone with a record player, a teak sideboard or a love of the 70s, our hand-tufted retro rugs bring bold arches, sunbursts and warm mustard, rust and navy tones. They work especially well as a smaller accent rug in a bedroom, reading corner or home office.
See why 70s-inspired rugs are trending again.
6. For the One Who Loves Colour: A Pink Hand-Knotted Rug
Not everyone wants beige. For the person whose home is full of colour and personality, a blush or coral hand-knotted rug brings warmth and joy to a bedroom, nursery or dressing room, while still being a timeless, handmade piece.
7. For Someone Truly Special: A Custom Rug
The most personal gift of all is a rug designed just for them. We can make rugs in custom sizes, colours and shapes, so you can match a favourite colour, fit an awkward space exactly, or recreate a design that means something to them. Because every custom rug is made from scratch, please order by 10 November for Christmas delivery.
Here's how ordering a custom rug works, step by step.
Tips for Gifting a Rug
- Not sure of the room size? Choose a runner, a round rug or a smaller accent size. They fit almost anywhere. Our rug size guide can help if you know the room.
- Not sure of their taste? Look at their sofa, cushions and walls. Soft neutrals, sage greens and muted blues work in most homes. Our guide on choosing the right rug colour explains more.
- Ask a partner or family member. They'll know the colours and rooms better than anyone.
- Order early. Every rug is made by hand to order, and couriers get busy in December.
- Know the returns rules. Standard rugs may be returned under our refund policy. Custom and personalised rugs can't be returned, so double-check sizes and colours before ordering.
- Add a care guide. Share our handmade wool rug care guide so the gift lasts for years.
Frequently Asked Questions
When should I order a rug for Christmas?
Order standard rugs by 20 November and custom rugs by 10 November. Each rug takes 10–15 business days to make and 5–7 business days to deliver.
Do you ship internationally?
Yes. We ship worldwide with express couriers such as FedEx and DHL. Shipping is free, and customs duties and import taxes are covered, so there's nothing extra to pay on delivery.
Can I send a rug directly to the person I'm gifting it to?
Yes. Simply enter their address as the shipping address at checkout. You'll receive the tracking number by email.
