This olive branch runner rug stretches a single graceful olive branch along a soft ivory field, its leaves carved in olive green, sage and pale silver-grey with a few dark olives tucked among them, all framed by a slim olive green border. Hand tufted in wool with hand-carved leaf outlines and veins, it brings a quiet, natural touch to kitchens and hallways.

Materials and craftsmanship

Each runner is hand tufted in Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India. Wool yarn is punched by hand through a cotton cloth stretched on a frame, then sheared to an even, dense pile. The outlines are hand carved, which lifts each shape slightly above its neighbour so the design reads crisply underfoot. Finally the runner is backed with cotton canvas and the edges are hand-bound for a clean, fringe-free finish that suits busy kitchens and hallways.

Specifications

Construction

Hand tufted, hand carved

Pile material

100% wool

Backing

Cotton canvas backing

Design

Carved olive branch botanical runner with border

Colours

Ivory, olive green, sage, silver grey

Pile height

About 12 mm

Edge finish

Hand-bound edges, no fringe

Origin

Bhadohi, Uttar Pradesh, India

Production

Made to order – 10 to 15 days

Styling and placement

It pairs beautifully with sage or soft grey shaker cabinets, limestone or pale stone floors, zellige tiles and brass handles. It suits Mediterranean, modern farmhouse, Scandinavian and minimalist kitchens, as well as hallways, laundry rooms and bathrooms.

Choosing your runner size

Leave 10–15 cm (4–6 in) of floor showing on each side of a hallway runner, and 30–45 cm (12–18 in) at each end. In a galley kitchen, a 2.6 ft wide runner suits most aisles; choose 3 ft for wider walkways and 2 ft for narrow halls. Need a length not listed? We tuft custom sizes to order.

Care and longevity

Vacuum regularly with suction only, beater bar off. Blot spills straight away with a clean cloth and spot clean with a mild wool-safe detergent. A thin rug pad stops it sliding on hard floors, and turning it end to end every few months keeps wear even. New wool sheds a little loose fibre for the first few weeks; this settles with regular vacuuming. Allow slight colour variation between batches and a size tolerance of up to 2%.

Frequently asked questions

Does the branch have a direction?

Yes.
